I'm sure I left it around here somewhere!!!

Ho ho ho. Anyway, I've been busy with other stuff for the last month or so, and haven't had much chance to work on the truck. A couple of weeks ago, me and the ever elusive Dr Frank degreased and power-washed the engine bay:

So today I scrubbed the engine bay again ready for some primer:

I'll spray some gloss black over that lot tomorrow (hopefully), and then the blummin engine is going back in!!!

Hard Yakka there boys....will you be painting that blue polyprop rope to match?

By the way is that a split in the wheelarch on the near side? or is just a plastic liner?

Got to paint a bit of rope Yeah the cloth liner under the wheel arch is a bit tatty, the metal it's connected to is fine tho. You can see for yourself!! Here's a lovely picture of my head while painting

And some results:

Now ... drum roll. I have here, a picture no less, of the elusive Dr Frank about to ride off into the morning sun after helping me finish the painting this morning. Of course being elusive, he has still protected his identity:

Yep art, the only one I wasn't sure about was the knock sensor. After much digging, (and looking in my own factory manuals to confirm, duuuhhhh), I confirmed that the 1987 Big Blocks (along with 2.5L supposedly) *never* had knock sensors or timing retardation factory installed. However, seeing as the block does actually have a thread in which to mount a knock sensor, I have obtained a knock sensor module from ebay, so that I can wire the output into the auxillary input of the WideBandCommander 02 sensor I am also installing. The WideBandCommander logs 02 readings and RPM, and will no also log knock counts. Therefore, even though the knock sensor won't trip retarfation, I can at least log them while I tune the engine.

The truck is going to be a snake of USB wires while I tune it. My laptop will be connected to the WideBandCommander (Wideband O2 and knock counts), factory ALDL cable (for logging stock computer information, e.g. Throttle Position, Vehicle Speed, Narrowband O2), and stock computer emalutor (called an Ostrich), so I can alter fuel and spark delivery, and idle speed etc in real time by clicking a few buttons on the laptop while the motor is running.

Should be fun!!
