Marku -> So where are TBirds? (May 19 2007 10:07:43)

Hey, am I being dumb/blind/what?  This part of the forum says "excluding Thunderbirds/Mustangs..>".  I can see a separate section for Stangs, but where are the TBirds?

So I'll post here for the time being!

I'd love to know what happened to my 61 red Bird with white interior.
Also, I was also wondering if there are any 35th Anniversary Birds out there
Finally, that awful question which I used to hate anyone asking - mpg.  Anyone have an idea what mpg can be expected out of the Super Coupe?

Hey, thanks Dave.  I have already stumbled across this Register - but many thanks.
I had a 61 Tbird years back, and I loved that car.  Always thought it was one of the nicest designs ever.  As posted elsewhere, I'm currently out of the country, but can't help trying to figure out what I want to buy next when I return.  Of the later Birds I reckon the 35th Anni would be a pretty nice car to own - I wonder how many are knocking around in UK.  Or, I do quite fancy going OTT and trying to find/build up a NASCAR type car - a Talladega would be fantastic!!  I used to hate it when people asked my how many mpg my cars did, but I must say that when they start getting down in the low-teens then some of the fun disappeared for me as I then just couldn't justify spending the money on driving to too many shows and meetings, and afterall, those are for me are half the fun of this bad passion we all share. I've had lots of Italian cars (Alfas and Lancias) over the years too, but the American club scene is unrivalled.
So, at the moment it's a 35th Anni TBird, or a NASCAR replica that does 20+mpg!!!!  Yeh, right!

The fuel consumption is not as bad as most people would let you believe.
My 2002 Trans Am 5.7L V8, would get me 30mpg on a run.
I went as far as France, Switzerland, Italy, Monte Carlo, Spain,  me and the wife, with boot full of clothes etc.
generally got 30 mpg.
As it was summer, I always had the top down, but kept my cruising speed between 60 ~ 65 mph.
For such a big engined car, I was more than pleased.
I might go as far to say that the smaller engined cars are more thirsty, as the engines just have work that bit harder.
I am sure the other members on the forum will chirp in.
