Guys n Girls, my dad is after a 4th Gen Camaro, no older than 1999 preferably 2001/2, must be 5.7 V8, hard top not convertible & doesnt necessarily have to be a Z28/SS but would be nice.
Anyone know any for sale? checked all the usual places but not a great deal has turned up. He's adament he wants to import one from the states however i've pointed out that a $11000 car is probably gonna cost him around £9000 just to land it in the UK (shipping, insurance, duty, vat, etc) and thats before SVA work, test, MOT, etc are taken into account.
Spurr Cars have a Black 2001 Z28 for £8950, i always think Spurr are overpriced though & knowing when i bought my Trans Am off them Malcolm doesnt like shifting on price.

How'd you work that one? $11000 = £5500 + about £1100 shipping & insurance = £6600 + 10% UK Duty = £7260 + 17.5% VAT = £8530 and thats before we take into account the rewiring of lights for SVA, the actual SVA test then MOT & getting it licensed for the road, then there's carriage from point of origin to the port & numerous other costs that will need factoring in.

My shipping in a container was only $900 from Houston to Felixtowe.
Didn't bother with the 2% insurance.
I have been informed, that agents are insured anyway.
You could always ask for 2 receipts, totalling the full cost of the car.
I was able to drop the car of at the agents myself as I was in Houston to buy it.
Incorporated buying the car with a holiday for us, we got to drive it for a few weeks over there aswell.
I suppose at the end of the day, I would rather buy a car from the Southern States, where they don't have snow or salted roads.
I was also purswaded (sp) by the vast ammount of cars available to choose from.
Manchester to Houston on Continental £369 every day of the week.
