I'm just wondering how many people with these cars know about the Technical Service Bulletin, issued on these cars? Only affects 98-02 models, TSB is for bubbles in the sail panel(roof) caused by the glue degassing and passing up through the plastic & through the paint, i have three small bubbles which have burst & leak glue down my roof everytime it gets hot! here is the link http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=308546 if you do a search on LS1.tech,LS1.com you'll find pages upon pages of threads discussing this topic, i'd go on but it's all mentioned here, i intend to approach GM by phone or nearest authorised dealer and get them to fix this!

These are the part #'s you need which are as follows > SAIL PANEL 10254708 > APPLIQUE PILLAR ( two of these left & right ) 10240164 & 10240165 ( these are the small triangular piece's by the door window's ). The price of the sail panel is about £400 + vat + paint + fitting. I have my sail panel but need to get it painted and fitted, but that can wait till later.

Did GM pay for the sail panel, i don't see why i should pay for something that's their fault,i'd even go to small claims as GM have representatives in this country too! I don't see why they're repairing some cars & not others under the 6yr/100k warranty, i still have 12months to run on mine

By the way i'm a hardtop so my bubbles are down both sides of the roof it's kind of wavy too, but when i polished it the waves weren't so noticable except for the bubbles

Yes GM dealership in manchester got me sail panel under warranty after a lot of phone calls and arguments, i just need to pay to get it primered, painted & fitted. Just need to find someone who knows what there doing to do the job. Also it is very important to use a glue that will not react against the sail panel otherwise same problem will return.

Which GM dealership did you approach? Baur & Millet? I have a copy of the TSB & auto safety document, was also gonna try and call i think his names Scott summers at GM to try and get a claim number. I'm not sure you should have to pay to paint & fit it though that also should be under warranty, thats like taking your car in for a service & them saying do you have your own tools? heres the service manual the lifts over there!

I would also think that you being made to paint and have the roof fitted yourself would invalidate your own warranty for any further work! i'd be damn pissed, i'm certainly not qaulified or insane enough to cut off my own roof panel & fit a new one, this is what your claiming on for them to do! sorry not trying to get at you for it, i'm just pissed that they won't carry out the work themselves or authorise a qaulified body shop to do the work, if they don't have one! END RANT! :)

Yes it was that dealership & i have made many phone calls to the states but no one will help because vehicle is not in the united states, also bauer millett dont have there own bodyshop as bodywork is farmed out to an outsider so that is why they were not prepaired to fit the sail panel ( roof panel ). Also the 6 year body warranty is out as it is a 99,so was lucky to get panel under warranty, loads of info on www.ls1tech.com www.ls1.com.

How was your process for getting them to get the panel? I've yet to approach anyone on the issue as i was trying to gather as much info as possible, i've read through all the post on ls1tech & ls1.com was a member on there since 03 untill the site went down!

Took about 3 months to get panel because the warranty had to go through via gm in the states then gm europe and eventually to gm dealership here in uk. There are company's that supply the panel in the states, but the shipping is what's going to cost you as the panel needs to be crated to prevent any damage via shipping.

Thanks! if this is gonna be the only way i can get the panel, and if i DO have to pay for it to be fitted i'll wait till my warranty is up, i'll probably try the dealer who shipped the car for me first David Boatwright in Essex to see if they can help. But i thought there might have been more people with f-bodys on this site that may have run into this problem. oh well Thanks again
