Back door stuck on 88 bonneville - Oct. 5 2007 15:52:25

hey guys ned some help. the back door on my bonny wont open. it unlocks but just wont open. been told its a common problem but don't know how to fix it. any ideas? thanx, Darren

seems like no one on heres had the problem of a stuck door

you will need to get the door card of from inside ( this will not be easy ) then you can have a look inside. if you can try to get the door open by pulling on the rods that work the lock.
then you will need to see what has broke and get back on the forum and ask us where to get the parts from or how to fix it.
sorry this is all I can do to help you at the minit.
also where do you live as maybe 1 of the mumbers lives near you and could give you a hand

thanx colin. ive even tried the old wire coat hanger trick to see if i can pop it from inside the doorbut gave up after an hour of hooking the wrong bit.

Sorry I'm late on this one mate but Oz was more or less on the spot. I did have a simular problem on a 60 Chevy Impala. Only way around it was to remove Inner Door panel although you might just cause slight damage but at least I was then able to get to the Mech of the Lock & release it.

thanx for all your tips guys. i finally managed to get it open using an old wire coat hanger. the mechanism itself is fine as it now opens from the inside everytime now but something on the outside button has broken so it wont work from outside but im slowly getting there. thanx again guys
