My van is pulling under breaking.  Odd symtoms.   If I build up the breaks very gently - no pull.

If I break suddendly then the van pulls briefly to the right and then goes straight. Its not how hard I break, its how suddendly, or quickly I build up the breaking.
If I let go of the steering wheel it also pulls right at the same time.

My initial thought was that I had a sticky left caliper, as as I braked the right hand side started to brake first and then the sticky left caught up.  But I have rebuilt the left caliper (new seals), but its had no effect at all.

It passed the MOT a few weeks ago, and the tester said all the bushes and joints look OK at the front.  Having said that he wasn't the most thorough of MOTs (carefully chosen for this reason ), and I didn't starasking him 'Are you sure you can't find something wrong'.

If it were bushes etc on the front I would expect the pull to related to the breaking rather than the 'suddeness' of the braking.  I dunno I'm stumped..

I know the Shocks are passe there best could that be it?

Any ideas greatfully received.

could be yer right hand caliper not relaesing as far as yer left hand once yer let off brakes,so the right hand aint as far to travel when you next apply brakes,
ad check r/h caliper
also check both front tyre pressure are same

I'd look at those joints again mate. It can be hard to tell, especially if the MOT testers wasn't looking that hard.

My '57 did exactly the same thing. No knocking or signs of worn joints, sailed through the MOT, yet started pulling like a b*****d under braking very shortly after. Turned out to be suspension joint.

Both calipers rebuilt with new seals, new pads and new flexible pipes and now all is well.  I no longer need both lanes to stop quickly!
