hi i just bought a 73/74 charger with a 383 engine (not hemi)
as far as i can work it out the last 383 in a charger was 1971 am i right?
the carb on it fits the stock intake manifold but the top collar for the stock air cleaner is way to big.
i think the engine has been changed?
but does anyone know what correct carb should be on there in the form of a 2 barrel i want to keep it original
any help appreciated mopars are all new to me
thanks.

Oh snap... Better check what kind of engine they placed in there.. If it is a stock, then you probably got the wrong model of air cleaner..

The original carb would probably be a Carter and by now US there is a collar available to space out the air filter.Afew years ago I fitted a new Holly Street Avenger to a 383 what an improvement to gas milage and running,
There should be a rating plate fitted to the inner wing next the battery copy that and get it decifer'd or contact the Mopar Muscle Association to find out the correct spec and good advice, is the Dodge a new import or from the UK .

Hi mate great news welcome to the Charger Club!!!"

As Chris above says, check vin no and engine no to see all matches up with your logbook.
If you need any more help try this site. www.mymopar.com/decoder.htm
(or the MMA)
Where are you based, would be great to meet up sometime and display those Chargers.
Any Pictures....
Rich.
