A mate of mine is looking at buying a Winnebago type RV. It has a Chevy 454? about 7.4litre. When you try and start it in park you have to "waggle" the shifter to get it to fire up. I suspect this is to do with the park switch. Does anyone know how expensive it's likely to be to fix?

The other problem is that when it's running there is a misfire. There's no blue, or any other colour smoke from the exhaust, so I think it's electrical. I heard in the past that these motors are prone to HT lead and dizzy cap failure? Again any ideas as he's trying to decide whether or not to take a punt at it but is terrified of having to throw a load of money at it.

Thanks

Kev.

Thanks for the info Deej. This things a '94 and only done 22000 with documentation to prove. I'll pass on the info though I got the impression he was gonna bid the guy low enough to cover any repair bill!!

It aint on lpg yet  but he says he will do it asap. He's running a v10 Ford Triton engined jobby at the minute and he reckons if he's careful he manages 6 mpg

Kev on the switch thingy you should just be able to start it in neutral and therefore not have to bother getting the switch sorted - the vette does the same now and a again.
