Hi, excuse me if I am talking ****e but please put me right. I have recently fitted a conical airfilter to my PT Cruiser which seems to have helped a little with performance aswell as making a more raspier engine note. I was considering doing this to my '91 RS Camaro (it's a 3.2 V6) but looking at it the air intake goes off towards a canister behind the headlamps. If this is disconnected will it screw everything up?

Probably a simpler question, is there any 'real' benefit from disconnecting the air-con unit or not. This is my first Yank and I havn't played aound with cars for 15 years or so and am a little rusty.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.....

Ok, so having had a look in the daylight it would appear that the plastic assembly merely runs from the plenimum to a metal airfilter housing and then exits behind the headlight. This therefor raises another question - is it better to draw air from between the engine and radiator (ie warm air) or to duct it from under the car where the air will be cooler?? Neither of which is a problem but I'd rather get it right first time....

The cooler the air the better mate , its much denser

Go to www.thirdgen.org and go to the V6 section and you'll find loads of info on building your own cold air intake
