 Hi Guys, As you know I've got the 53 chevy, this guy has asked me to swap the 53 for his Dodge Ram 2003 3.7 V6, I went to see his truck and its very nice indeed, low miles [35 thou]  its a manual 4x2 new paint,bling wheels,tyres, as far as I can see its mint, so whats the score with the V6? I realy need a truck I can use every day and this dodge would suit better than the chevy, so anything you can tell me guys?  he recons 20mpg,  oh! and its petrol, Thanks Mo,    the deal is going down this sunday, we're just going to swap, and both having full MOT's done.

 sounds a decent deal mo, v6 will do yers for everyday user and had say its worth a  a big chunk more than the 53 too buddy so yer on a winner all day long mo. just sold my manual ram  today and did find it a bind to be honest and will stick with auto/[;)]

looks like 20 mpg is about the figure fer a ram
but aint much diffrence between all the engines
rember us gallons are a fith smaller than uk gallons
so 20mpg  us gallons = 24 mpg uk gallons here
personally would sooner have the hemi with auto[:D]
reckon it would do everything yer want
is it a work truck special ?basic interior with few options
if it is ,i wouldnt bother with it
knew a lad got a ram "work truck special "with cummins,he painted it put bling rims on it ,but had trouble selling it ,
rubber floor mats vynal seats ,only a radio no cd ,wind up windows etc
is it regular cab or quad cab?
is it a short bed 6 1/2 ft ,or long bed 8 foot?
3.7 will only tow a 3700 lb trailor,quad cab 3400 lbs
(2240 lbs = 1 ton)
4.7 will tow 7700 lbs ,q/cab 7350 lbs
5.7 hemi wil tow 9200 lbs,q/cab 8900 lbs
thes 3 trim packages specs "st " basic model,then its "slt",
top trim package is laramie
but whatever reckon it should do yer ok fer work an pleasure

Mo,
I can believe the fuel figures no problem. The 4x2's seem to be a fair bit better on juice than the 4x4's. I've had 23 out of my Ram on a run, no cruise control and basically trying for it. That said, don't get stuck on the wet grass at Capesthorne!
I've no personal experience of the V6 except in Grand Caravans that we've hired in Canada, same as Grand Voyagers. Gutsy enough motor, will be no drag racer, but sufficient I would have thought for bopping about and general driving.

Same as the engine in Hemi's Dakota?

its the newer 3.7 engine in the ram ,more bhp an more torque than the old 3.9 [:D]

Well? guys, The deal is going down this Sunday, we meet at the Toll Road services and swap documents etc and drive off in each others trucks, I must admit I do like this Ram he's swapping with me, bright red, basic! but looks real nice and clean, So? come Sunday afternoon, I'm a Dodge fella [:D]. Mo.

  i take it you have dome an hpi just to be safe mo. no finance left on it or storys.[;)] prevention is better than the cure.

One thing. Every year that van will be worth a fraction of what it's worth now. Your truck however will almost certainly be worth far more. Your truck is an investment, the van will bleed money.

I know what you mean Barry, but I can't afford to have both and the chevy was built for straight lining, soft front etc, it just can't hack the building trade, where as the Dodge should cope, I used my Ford F 350 for work for four years, it managed ok, If I was a rich man, da da diddle di, you know the song?  i would have both, but its not to be, one bag of sand in the chevy and its not happy, Did you have to say the phrase Bleed money?  I scared now![&o]     Mo,[:D]

Well it sure looks good Dave. I saw it on Monday night at R56 and it looks well.
Reckon Mo and Lin will be very happy running around in that one, and as dj said, its a good swap.

Dodge for a Chevy is always a good swap!  (opens can o' worms)

Sorry Mo. [:D] I just meant in comparison. Thing is you've got the motor now that suits your needs and that's what's probably most important. Enjoy !!
