9.00am on the 2nd may 2004 saw 9 cars/vans meeting at Boreham Interchange services to cruise to North Weald to stage our first club stand for the AACI for 2004 in Essex. We took a gentle ride on the 20-mile journey, Picking up with three other cars along the way leading our now 12 car trail though the Essex country lanes.
With the weather looking over cast but the forecast looking good for the day, we get directed to our pitch and set up our club stand. Not long after we had arrived than the other cars attending on our club stand arrived giving us a good display of vehicles ranging from a 50's pick up to present day cars and vans. This left us with a roll call of :-Three Pickups, Three Astros, Five Day vans, Five Third Gen Camaros, Lincoln town car, 69 Fastback Mustang, Two 79 Trans Ams & One fourth Gen WS6 Trans Am and a real good friendly atmosphere.
Wasn't to long before the main show area filled up as did the other Club stands of Mustang owners, Pontiac Drivers and Pontiac owners Clubs.
12.00pm the live band play there first set of the day followed by Pete Tucker commentating during the American car parade. The rest of the day went off with out a hitch with full credit to the Damn Yankee for organising the show with good Arena events and attractions.
2.00pm came and we saw a Drag racing presentation by Barry Thorne with a Camaro shelled drag car.
The vehicles attending this show range from Day vans and RV's to Profuel, Rod & custom cars and from nearly every era. All this and not to be left out there was a great selection of American Motor bike too. When the time came around for judging much to our elation one of our own members Peter Mann came away with the trophy for best van with him Dodge Van (Wild as the wind).
The show came to an end with brilliant sunshine and a good atmosphere leaving a good foundation for the DamnYankees Summer Slam on the 25th July 2004 for which they are holding a Run wot yer Brung. Once again we will be attending with a Club Stand hopefully with more cars than ever!
