1956 Hemi Dodge

1956 Hemi Dodge Barbara Johnson
Subject Vehicle: 1956 Hemi Dodge.

Just to prove that the Bug for USA Cars does run in our Family blood I thought I should include one for my other half “Barbara”.

Barb’s baby is very much a rare Mopar Classic of the 1950’s & was far from an easy job to source more especially in such super condition.

It is of 1956 vintage & is one of the finest examples of the Dodge Custom Royal model we could locate, it is powered by the “Red Fire” 315 V8 Hemi engine & has the “Push Button” auto transmission so that should keep her on her toes a while.

It is a 2 owner car with just 38.000 miles on its back & has been in storage for 23 years due to the owner passing away and his wife was reluctant to part with it for obvious reasons that I’m sure we would all share under the same regretable circumstances

It’s got plenty a toys for the year inc air con, power windows, and power brakes too, it should do 20 mpg as its on a single 4 barrel Carter Carb,so it might do a few more miles than my Fury as that’s 8 mpg at the moment, I’m sure Barb can man it as she has many a time drove my truck with the Caravan on the back to Billing and Americana etc.

We have both been into American cars for a long time in some form or another, she was the Tea lady when we did the F1 Stock Cars circuit and a great help with keeping the garage going when we were busy mending the cars, both our lads were racing since they were 10 years old in the Brisca mini Stox as well and both were superstar grade before they were 12.years of age so its always been in our blood chasing round the Country watching the V8 Brisca Stockcers, a chapter in life for sure sat at Bell Vue and seeing Super Stu n Wolfie Bezz also Wainman go at it.

56 DodgeWe still get to go to Sheffield or Coventry now and then but it ain’t the same with all there coin in them, anyway back to the car, it should be here in 2 weeks (on it’s way from the USA) all being well and it will need a good going over and check everything ready for towing the caravan to some shows once I get the tow bar fitted that i have here waiting.

I have a few box's a nice stuff to bolt on and some super little detailing bits inc a 69 super bird Chrome Bee, D 500 badge, a 56 dealer trunk badge, Dodge cross flags for glove box lid, some Tailer made black mats with yellow piping, dual stainless exhaust tips that are stunning & even the original dealer Brouchures for the 56 Dodge, a trunk kit, and a few other nice bits.

Barb’s gonna call it her “Bumble Bee” as its Tri Tone yellow white n black colour combo.

After 30 years of wedded bliss coming up in a few weeks she deserves a treat now and again and I am sure I will get to borrow it now and again.

Well that’s about it for now, more or less a profile for the Johnson Family, you should see “ Bumble Bee” at some of the shows in a couple a weeks time fingers crossed as I ain’t the lucky one.

Thanks for taking the time to read the Johnson’s profiles, we hope you enjoy them.

Dean n Barb. (Dean has his own car featured here - 1958 Plymouth Fury)
