Owner: Peter White, Essex
This particular example of the 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood is rather unique in as much as other than being transported to the Dock's in the USA when completely New it has never been driven on any USA soil & it's one of a very few imported vehicles that retains so much of it's original history right from rolling out of the assembly plant to exporting to the UK except for the period between 1975 & 1982 but perhaps a previous owner might be able to supply that 'missing link' in it's history. An unusual example in as much as apart from being transported to the docks as a new vehicle, this car has never been driven/owned or used in it's Country of origin the USA.
The car was imported, new, by Lemdrum and Hartman on behalf of a company based in London's Piccadilly. It's original registration number was 6 DYO and its' original colour was beige, This company retained ownership of the car until 1973 and then sold it to a garage in Hampstead who retained it for 2 years before selling it on to another private owner in NW London. The early history is quite clear as the current owner has the original "Buff" logbook, a very rare document in this day & age.
Its' history and its' home between 1975 and 1982 are unclear until it resurfaced in Halstead, Essex in 1982. There it stayed until 1989 during which time the owner changed the colour from the original beige to the present Pink and White, although not original the colour scheme does suit this particular Caddy. During the month of March 1989 the car found a new owner & was purchased by an Engineering company in based in Sunderland who kept it for just over a year, but during that time the company sold off it's original Registration of 6 DYO, to a Ferrari owner, I would suspect for rather a huge amount of money, perhaps it was the realization of the value of the Registration that the company purchased the car as is far too frequent the situation of modern times.
In 1990 the car was sold to another new owner in living in the Coventry area of the Midlands where it remained until 2002, it was during the year of 2002 that it was purchased by it's present owner & AACI member (Peter White) who lives in the district of Hoo, Kent.
The car made its first appearance at the AACI Summer Nationals 2004 under its present ownership of 'Peter' and was the subject of much admiration throughout the weekend; it is maliciously maintained & always presented in pristine condition and is a credit to Peter, the current owner.
Peter's 62 Cadillac holds the distinction of being the oldest vehicle to have traveled on the Calais Cruise 2004 & never missed a beat in the many miles covered during the cruise, I'm sure Pete & the Caddy will be making many future appearances at many events throughout the seasons & strongly advice you to feast your eyes on the car & perhaps introduce yourself to Peter, you wont regret it I assure you.

Prez: Historical Footnote. The year of 1962 represented the 60th Anniversary of the Cadillac marque & total production of Cadillac for it's 60th Anniversary year was 160840 units, all were equipped with the new 'dual safety' braking system & just 59% supplied with Air Con. Total output of the 4 door, 6 passenger 'Town Sedan' series 6200 was a mere 2,600 & purchase price was $5213 as were all 4dr models while the 2 dr Convertible was priced at $5588 & found just 16,800 buyers.
The 1962 Cadillac was powered by a V-8. Overhead Valve. Cast Iron Block supplying a displacement of: 390 cid. Brake HP was rated @ 325 @4800rpm. Five Main bearings, & fuel feed through a Carter 2 Barrel Carb.
Enjoy your Caddy Pete, I'm sure many of us are envious of your ownership.
