AACI 2004 All Clubs Rally

Intro History

For those of you who have no knowledge of where the initial introduction of an event such as ‘The All Clubs Rally ’ came from perhaps I should outline the history of events that planted the first seeds forsuch a meeting. Many years ago the scene was Sponsored by various USA vehicle parts suppliers, one such major company at that time was ‘John Woolfe Racing’. The head of the company 'MrJohn Riswick' was seeking suggestions to mark the 25th Anniversary of his company & I suggested Sponsoring an event that would encompass All associated within the: USA vehicles, Rods, Custom & Street scene.

A meeting was called & an invitation extended to officials of various associations to attend & come forward with ideas for such an event the likes of which had never been done before. The meeting wasa huge success with many clubs offering their support. The planning & format for the initial Launch was theresponsibility of a team that comprised of my late & dear friend Neil Meredith who was Chairman of ‘The National Association of Street Clubs’ Alan Murphy representing ‘The Pre 50 AmericanAuto Club & myself who was at that time Chairman of the AAC UK. The show was an amazing success & all praise for it’s organisation & smooth running must be attributed to Neil & Alan. That was the very first & last event to labelled ‘The All Clubs Rally’ due to failure to secure sponsorship for future years. Throughout the following years Neil & myself had discussed on many occasions the possibility of reintroducing the show, sadly for the scene in general Neil lost his battle with a terminal illness & I found it difficult to accept that the event could be resurrected without his support, such was the value of this great man, however after several months I contacted ‘Liz’ Neil’s Widow seeking her approval to once again launch the event in dedication to Neil’s memory, Liz kindly allowed me to do so.

The All Clubs will continue to be dedicated to the fond memory of Neil Meredith & another dear friend who we lost very recently Mick Davey. It is hoped that in some little way we can keep alive the memory of these two great individuals who havethroughout their short lives given their all to the scene in the UK.

Event Report

AACI UK Summer Nationals

The reintroduction of the event was not an easy task more especially as the memory of it’s original launch was so many years ago & so much depended on continued support from the many other clubs associated withour sport however a few weeks before the actual date for the event I received very positive responses from various clubs who pledged their support & requested to be allocated area’s for their individual displays. What a tremendous atmosphere was created by so many enthusiastic people. Wonderful displays by many different clubs & all taking pride of display on the main eventsfield. My special thanks to all of the hard working & dedicated officials of those clubs that keep the sport alive & kicking in the UK. The Classic Corvette Club UK, Pontiac Owners Club, Pontiac Drivers Club, Lincoln Continental, Pre 50,Cadillac Owners Club, Mopar Muscle Association, AAC UK, American Motorhome Club, Harley Guys, Indian Motorcycle & many others, please forgive me if you represent any association I have not mentioned but be assured I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support no matter how small your club may be, we are ALL equal in our enthusiasm for our sport. Although the major display took place on Sunday there were hundreds who chose to Camp over for the whole weekend & many supplied superb displays of their vehicles in the main Arena through Saturday & Sunday, my thanks once again to Pete Tucker for carrying out his usual & informative commentaries on both days. Entertainment during the evening in the main Marquee was supplied through our resident DJ (Lou & Pete) as well as live performancesby The Firebirds on Friday & Status Clone on Saturday evenings respectively.
