AACI “All Clubs Rally”
August 21st 2005
The 2005 “All Clubs Rally” represents only the “Second Year” of it’s launch into the AACI events Calendar & one would expect such a “young” event to take several seasons to establish itself but I think I clearly underestimated the enthusiasm of so many other clubs who supported the event. Without doubt “The All Clubs Rally” is set to challenge the “Super Summernationals” for the number 1 American Auto event in the UK.

Although the weather prediction prior to the weekend was rather dismal it (as usual) was totally wrong & the Aquadrome was bathed in Sunshine throughout the duration of the show.

If I’m to be totally honest Friday did seem to be very much slower than usual but it is difficult & perhaps unfair to form a comparison with the “Summernationals” that took place a few short weeks before the All Clubs however Friday is considered to be “Set Up Day” with Traders & Campers arriving on site at all hours of the day & night but by 9.30 in the evening the Marquee was more or less packed with people enjoying a Cold Beer & the Disco.

Come Saturday morning I was scheduled to give a “Live” interview with Northampton Radio at 7.30 in the morning & although still half asleep I managed to squeeze as much info about the event into the few minutes duration of the interview as possible, this resulted in both telephones being constantly busy throughout the remainder of the day from many individual vehicle owners & the general public who requested more info about the event.

Although the number of various vehicles on site were many not all chose to display on the main events field until midway through the day although the “Burn Out Pad” proved to be a major sceptical for many people during the two sessions that took place.

All in all, the event sprang to life by noon on Saturday & Campers were still piling into the venue late into the evening many other individual visitors arrived by Coach & consisted of the Fan Club base of the “Rapiers” Group & Firework Display.

By 8.30 Saturday evening the Marquee was very near capacity awaiting the performance by “the Rapiers” & boy did they entertain, meanwhile within the confines of the main events field the Van & Car Light Cruise had taken place & now presented a super “Static” display in readiness for the Firework display.

The Rapiers finished their explosive performance at 10.30 & after requesting everyone who was interested in the Firework display to leave the Marquee I instructed to Pyrotechnics team to commence with the display. Needless to say it proved to be a major attraction & was a perfect end to a perfect day.

Sunday dawned with the perfect weather conditions & the fields quickly filled up with many Club Stands & hundreds of individual owners vehicles that included just about everything in between a Vintage “Model T Ford” & a much more modern Super Car such as the “Viper”, Cars, Vans, Pick Up’s & RV’s all had their platform for display & the superb condition of the vehicles was tantamount to the loving care of their owners.

All too soon it became time for the “Awards Ceremony” & the closing of another “Mind Blowing” event. How are we going to top this next year is beyond me but I’m confident we will.

All Trophies were Sponsored by TBE & AACI.
