Presidential Intro Monday 18th April Well, Pam & myself have just finished storing away all the usual Equipment required for setting up the AACI events & it does hardly seem worth while when we consider that in less than a Month it must all come out again for the R n R Special.
What can I say about the first National event of the season that has not already been said through various Topics within the Forum? Simply knocked out by the huge success & support from so many vehicle owners & traders associated with our scene.
Throughout the week leading up to the show the weather was superb with the Aquadrome bathed in Sunshine & high temperatures right through ‘Build Up’ and the actual event weekend although various other parts of the UK suffered wet conditions. Camping units towed by the inevitable USA Iron rolled into the site two or three days before the actual launch of the event & all fears of last years poor weather having an effect on this years Season opener were quickly dispelled.
The number of Traders booked in rivalled that of the Summernationals resulting in the need to install ‘Traders Alley’ that is usually only required for the ‘Super Nats’, most satisfying was the number of Auto related stands & Sponsors who supported the event, my thanks to USAutomotive, STT, Pro Long, DCS, Rybec, Moving Parts & so many others who offered everything from Brake parts to Dress Up Kits & Pin Striping, wonderful support,
When all is said & done the most important ingredient for success of any Auto event has to be the individual enthusiast who display their vehicles for everyone to admire. The USA vehicles scene within the UK is flourishing as are our events & I would be the first to offer my sincere acknowledgment & thanks to these very special people & their families who despite Legislation & very high motoring cost keep the scene alive & firmly kicking.
Pam & myself wish to thank all concerned more especially those who give up their Family time to assist us in ensuring the smooth running of the events.

Harry Tune The AACI Spring Nationals April 2005
I’ve just returned home from a fantastic Spring Nationals, what a way to start this years show season off, it was fantastic.
I was due to go to Billing on Friday after work, but due to the heavy rain, I decided to wait until Saturday morning as I didn’t fancy putting my tent up in the rain. On Saturday morning it was dry, so I set off early looking forward to the weekend ahead. The campsite was busy in some areas, and quiet in others so it was difficult to judge from first glances how successful the show was going to be. I pitched my tent amongst the caravans of others from my area before heading off to the showfield, to park the truck up.
Saturday is generally a laid back day, but even so there was a good turn out of vehicles on display. As always Lou was playing a varied selection of music to entertain us, and there was also the trade stands to look around.
Towards the end of the afternoon, the day visitors headed home leaving the campers to enjoy the evening.
Following the success of last years parade of illuminated day vans, it was repeated this year, but I missed it as we were having a curry in ‘Vinnies’ at the time. After the curry, we went to the marquee and were just in time to see Matchbox take to the stage.
I’ve not seen them live before or heard many of their songs, but they played a very good set, and the crowds enjoyed it. Its hard to believe they are still the original line up and still playing after all these
We took our vehicles onto the show field before returning to the camping area to have breakfast and watch the display of American iron entering the site. There was a wide range of vehicles from old to brand new, cars, trucks, vans, bikes etc.By the time we got back down to the show field we were amazed at how busy it was, with the vehicles already passed the roadway that splits the field in two.
Again following on from the success of last year, there was the opportunity to put your vehicle on theburnout pad, to display its power, with one of the AACI marshals even attempting it on a scooter. Also back towards the front of the field Pete Tucker was entertaining the crowds in his own inimitable style.
One day maybe someone will bring a vehicle into the arena that Pete doesn’t know about!
All around the edges of the field were trade stands which appeared busy, although personally I think it would be nice to see more selling automotive parts. At the end of the afternoon there was the prize giving ceremony, with the trophies being presented by Brian of DCS limo’s (one of our sponsors), a full list of winners follows.
It was nice to see some different vehicles being awarded trophies, in particular Rod Eady’s pick up,Colin Maulihan’s 58 Skyliner and the 1941 Cadillac. After the awards were presented the field started to empty as people headed home having just attended the best Spring Nationals ever!
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the clubs sponsors, everyone involved with the organisation and running of the show, but most importantly everyone who brought their vehicle and put it on display, because without you there wouldn’t be a show.
