2007 Autumn Nationals Report
Report by Harry Tune

To claim that the 2007 Season has been 'A very mixed Bag' for individual Events organisers or relative Clubs would be the understatement of the year with most if not all events plagued with the most atrocious weather I have experienced in the past 15 years or so.

The Season kicked of with such positive & encouraging results for the Spring nationals that were bathed in brilliant Sunshine as was the R n R Bank Holiday special in May, superb weather & record attendance for both events & who could ask for a better start? But as the weeks progressed ever closer the 'Super' Summer nationals in June the whole of the UK was to suffer the most severe Torrential downpours & Flooding ever recorded for the previous decade or so, despite all that the weather could throw at us we somehow managed to get through both the Summer & All Club Nationals, all credit must justly be given to the many hundreds of individual vehicle owners, enthusiasts & traders who's determination carried the events through despite the many hardship's they had to endure due to the terrible weather & conditions, without their support we simply could not have got through it.

Moving onto our final event of the year namely 'The Autumn Nationals', fortunately for the AACI & many other events prior to our final nationals were blessed with fine conditions & although rain was forecast for many parts of the UK Northampton & the Billing venue remained dry & in good condition.

Friday being the actual launch of the event the influx of Campers was without doubt slow arriving on Friday but picked up pace & became much busier throughout the late evening.

For those already on site & many late arrivals the first stop is the welcoming confines of the Marquee & the live Entertainment, for this particular evening they enjoyed the two hour performance featuring 'Colin Gould' who's wide variety of various music guaranteed satisfaction for every taste. A stunning artist in anyone's books & will certainly feature in our 2008 line up.

On driving down to the main Events field on Saturday morning our expectations for a busy weekend were looking far more promising with camping area's now beginning to resemble previous attendance numbers & more continuing to arrive throughout Saturday.

It was gratifying to once again see vehicles parking up on the main events field during the day & into the evening when the usual 'Lighting Display' provided a superb spectacle of varying & unique lighting set up's, many people were checking out the various traders while others chilled out around their respective camping area's with a few Beers & a Bar B.

The main attractions for Saturday evening along with the static vehicle 'Light Display' was the live performance on Stage in the Marquee featuring the Rocking Band of The Tony Sheridan Trio who as usual did not fail to fill the Marquee with the ever enthusiastic crowd. A perfect end to a perfect day was Sunday going to be as successful given that once again the weather threatened rain.

My arrival on the main events field at 7.30 on Sunday witnessed our dedicated team of Marshals already prepared for the influx of 'Show n Shine Day' exhibitors & scouring the Sky for Rain Clouds but thankfully we were to be blessed with fine conditions right through till the Awards presentations & closure our final National of the 2007 season.

I never ceased to be amazed by the sheer number, diversity & condition of the stunning USA vehicles that support our events to whom we are forever grateful in offering their support, after all without them their would be no Nationals.

My congratulations go to all of those individual owners who were presented with awards & also to the many hundreds of other enthusiasts who provide us with such a stunning display of their vehicles.
